Microdermabrasion is a new “Lunch Time” approach to skin resurfacing that stimulates the production of new skin cells and smoothes out skin irregularities.
Less aggressive than laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion is a non-surgical treatment that does not require an anesthetic. Treatments take about 30 minutes. There is no pain with this treatment.
One microdermabrasion treatment can offer the benefits of a series of facial peels using glycolic acid, another “Lunchtime Treatment”.
While the effects of microdermabrasion are not as dramatic as those of laser resurfacing, recovery time after the procedure is also much shorter. Though there may be some redness afterwards, most patients can return to work immediately.
The DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing System removes this layer by gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips bonded to the tip of the wand, while vacuuming the exfoliated skin cells away in a controlled manner. Removing this outer layer leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin. Unlike other exfoliation treatments, the DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing System uses no loose abrasives to contaminate you or the environment.
Regular removal of the keratin layer can improve the appearance of:
Small acne scars
Rough or irregular skin
Blackheads and whiteheads
A series of 6-10 treatments gives optimum results.
Because there is a risk that microdermabrasion may stimulate a new outbreak, patients who have a history of herpes simplex (cold sores) around their lips should consider taking an oral antiviral medication before undergoing treatment by microdermabrasion.
