Sculptra is a trade name for Poly-L-Lactic Acid which is actually a natural byproduct of exercise in humans. When we exercise, our muscles make Lactic Acid which is gradually broken down into glucose and carbon dioxide. When injected into the lower layers of the skin Lactic Acid dramatically stimulates collagen production and helps restore volume in the aging face. Unlike traditional tissue fillers, the results from Sculptra can last 2-3 years once the full series of treatments (usually 3) are completed. Sculptra can be used to add volume to the area under the eyes, in the cheeks, along the jaw line, in the lines beside the nose (nasolabial lines) and to the corners of the mouth (marionette lines).
Sculptra is an advanced skin therapy and can only be injected by experienced physicians with proper certification. Dr. William Sanders is certified as a Sculptra injector and also provides training to other physicians for Botox and other injectable fillers.
